Connect the Dots

What's more classic than simple navy and white?  Navy and white dots and stripes of course!  Also très French, non?  Breaking out yet another classic, This is Paris.  Yes, some of the details are a bit outdated but the illustrations are timeless and this series of books has a magical quality and charm, a little je ne sais quoi (wink, wink!), that transports you through both time and space.

Fringe Appeal

This week we've found inspiration in the classic navy and white color combo.  Of course, we had to start with a fringe number!  This one will also serve as a fantastic swim cover up later this summer.  Ahhh, can't wait!  (And....really feeling the sock thing lately....)

No Sweat

Sooooooo, it's time for us to admit that we do in fact judge books by their covers.  That will probably never change.  We are enamored with illustration...like a moth to a flame we are drawn over and then sucked in (with decidedly less disastrous results!).  Beastly Verse is a new addition to our collection and the illustrations by illustrator and printmaker JooHee Loon are simply enchanting.  Loon has illustrated 16 poems from anonymous, well known and lesser known authors in a technique that visually looks like traditional block printing but with the use of technology allows her to layer three simple colors for more dynamic results.  A beautiful way to introduce poetry to any child, and fun to read for adults as well.  What exactly does a Spangled Pandemonium look like?  Dig into this book to find out!  And it just so happens that the book cover matches back perfectly to our ensemble for the day.  One more casual dress for the week.  This one is actually a tunic that we sized up on to wear as a dress for now.  Add a gold zipper to a grey heather sweatshirt and for some reason we can't say no.

Wild Leopard

In our minds casual and glitter are not mutually exclusive.  Why haven't gold glitter and leopard found their way together before now?  You're right, they probably have, likely in some more tawdry example...the soft gold and lightest blush keep this one anything but.

14 Karat

Everyone looks great in a little sparkle!  OK, so in this case a fair amount of sparkle!  We think just the right amount....the textured, light-weight fabric of this dress has just the right amount of shimmer with the ease and cut of a tee shirt.  This week we're all about the most comfortable and casual, but equally stylish, dresses.
