Sooooooo, it's time for us to admit that we do in fact judge books by their covers. That will probably never change. We are enamored with illustration...like a moth to a flame we are drawn over and then sucked in (with decidedly less disastrous results!). Beastly Verse is a new addition to our collection and the illustrations by illustrator and printmaker JooHee Loon are simply enchanting. Loon has illustrated 16 poems from anonymous, well known and lesser known authors in a technique that visually looks like traditional block printing but with the use of technology allows her to layer three simple colors for more dynamic results. A beautiful way to introduce poetry to any child, and fun to read for adults as well. What exactly does a Spangled Pandemonium look like? Dig into this book to find out! And it just so happens that the book cover matches back perfectly to our ensemble for the day. One more casual dress for the week. This one is actually a tunic that we sized up on to wear as a dress for now. Add a gold zipper to a grey heather sweatshirt and for some reason we can't say no.
for the Littles:
- Crewcuts Sweatshirt (it's a tunic but we're wearing it as a dress)
- Old Navy Sunglasses
- Ruby & Bloom Dot Tights
- New Balance Sneakers
for the Girls:
- Crewcuts Sweatshirt, similar Dress
- in our opinion kids could also wear the Old Navy Toddler Sunglasses (the width is actually wider than some kids sunglasses we have) but there are also similar Ray Ban Jr Sunglasses or similar color Stella McCartney Kids Sunglasses
- Ruby & Bloom Dot Tights
- New Balance Sneakers
for the rest of Us:
- similar Monrow Dress, similar James Perse Dress or similar Splendid Dress
- similar Toms Sunglasses
- similar American Apparel Tights or similar Hansel from Basel Crew Socks
- similar New Balance Sneakers
