As promised the dress version. Full disclosure you will likely leave a bit of a trail of glitter behind. BUT... it's not nearly as bad as you would think and, bonus, if you happen to get lost you can Hansel and Gretel you're way home with that trail of glitter! Pret-ty smart, right!
Inspired by these Gucci Dresses: the Black Shift, Pattern Mixed Floral and the rest of the SS16 collection (in particular the skirts from looks #9 and #38).
DIY deets:
- hand sketched onto the garment with a thin black sharpie first making sure the lines would accommodate the width of the glue bead as well as the extra width of the large flake glitter
- glittered ribbon fill first with super fine glitter from this Recollections Extra Fine Glitter Pack
- for the black outline we mixed 3 glitters (approx 1/3 each), Black Glitter, Super Fine Black Iridescent Glitter and a Larger Black Iridescent Glitter
- glue and glitter in shifts and let dry 4-6 hours in between
- use a tooth pick to lightly loosen extra glitter along each side of the glue bead 'lines,' this will help make the artwork more clear
- after 24 hours shake the garment vigorously outside to remove all the excess glitter, we even we even folded the garment back on itself and rubbed glitter against glitter on all sides of the garment to remove as much excess as possible so less will come off during wear
