a day in the life

Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot!

Today our white is the perfect foil against all this hot color.  We love a back button sweater so we've decided to wear our cardigan backwards...we think it makes it feel more modern...and we also don't have to find something to layer under it!  Win-win.  We tend to like our sneaks either pretty wild or clean and easy so going tonal sole-to-laces fits us just fine...the pop of mint is the cherry on top.

Bright Stripes

Not to call out the obvious, but yes, we are at ANOTHER train!  We seem to be developing a bit of a train trend.  Just can't get enough.  Who knew there were so many mini steam engines chugging around on mini tracks nearly right in our back yard?  How many more will we find?  This outing has reminded us to take the time to appreciate the little gems in our own community.  What other adventures are hiding in plain sight?

Winter Whites

Don't pack your white jeans away!  We always think a white jean looks fresh during the colder months, perhaps even more so than in the summer.  Of course, we have more than one iteration so this week we've decided we're wearing our whites!  You've observed by now that we also like a tonal look so today we've gone with layered 'shades' of white with our pale grey sneaks and ivory sweater.  To top it off we hit up the jewelry drawer.  This adorable dog gives us just the wink we're looking for.

Our sweater is DIY:  (latch hook illustrated instructions, follow this technique using a latch hook but rather than apply to a gridded canvas you will apply to the sweater stitches)  Determine where fringe trim should fall from the bottom of the sweater, double this length and add 1", this is the length of yarn needed for the first row of fringe.  For each row add another 1" in length.  Apply latched fringe in each purl stitch (or recessed portion/horizontal yarn) of the sweater's rib hem.  Apply in rows every 1/2" starting from hem until the sweater's rib trim is covered.

Well Worn

The 'leather' knee patch...when you aren't ready to commit to the full-on leather pant!  Actually we like just a hit of leather for this one and the attitude it brings this jegging, so much in fact that  we're thinking we might need to buy another pair soon...

for the Littles:

  • DIY Jacket Embellishment:  Stampendous Jewel Sky Blue Glitter and Etsy Ultra Fine Brown Glitter dusted over Fabric Glue that has been applied carefully with a paintbrush (if you'd like apply coat of clear dry fabric glue on top of glitter once dry to seal the glitter and keep it from flaking off, embellish with Dome Rivets/Studs ***potential chocking hazard so only use for appropriate ages and make sure all studs are applied securely, we like the wash, color, fit and general attitude of this J Crew Boys Jean Jacket as a starting point
